## [1962 Post Cereal Baseball Card with Mickey Mantle Purchased by Just Collect](https://blog.justcollect.com/1962-post-cereal-baseball-card-with-mickey-mantle-purchased-by-just-collect)
Complete Set of Post Cereal Cards Included in The Nebraska Collection
- ** May 08, 2025
- **
Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and more baseball legends makeup this COMPLETE set of 1962 Post Cereal baseball cards Just Collect proudly purchased! Let's go back to a time when the backs of cereal boxes had baseball cards.
In 1962, Post Cereal knew how to get our attention. On the back of their cereal boxes, rather than having a maze or a coloring panel, and certainly cooler than the nutritional information, we saw baseball cards! A complete, 200-card set from those boxes of cereal in 1962 has been purchased by us here at Just Collect.
## 1962 POST CEREAL BASEBALL CARD SET
This 200-card was distributed on the backs of Post Cereal boxes. Each box of cereal sported six cards on the back of the box. Measuring the same as a standard card at 2.5" x 3.5 ", as we put our spoons in the milk, we started at legends like [Mikey Mantle ](https://www.justcollect.com/baseball/players/mickey-mantle/)and [Hank Aaron](https://www.justcollect.com/baseball/players/hank-aaron/). On the front of each card is a picture of the player, a writeup, and their statistics. The cards were meant to be cut from the back of each box, and you can only imagine how difficult it was to complete a whole set of 200 cards given each box had just six. To make collection the set even more difficult, Post released the first 100 cards with American League stars and the next 200 cards with National League stars! A box with three stars from each league meant a TON of cereal had to go down your hatch to see all 200 cards.
In steps Uncle Curtis! Recently, we purchased a HUGE collection of vintage cards and premiums in [The Nebraska Collection](https://blog.justcollect.com/77k-collection-purchased-from-nebraska-with-ruth-mantle-and-more). The collection was so massive, we paid $77,000 it! Uncle Curtis was so far ahead of his time when it came to collecting rare premiums and food-issued sets. On the left photo below are the American League stars with the three-time MVP, Mantle, next to his legendary teammate, Roger Maris. The AL cards have a blue border while the National League star cards you see on the right have a red border. Next to Aaron are icons like Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, and Sandy Koufax.

Remember when cereal boxes had cards on the back or maybe inside the box? Around 1993, we ate a few boxes of cereal to pull a pack of cards out from IN the box. We still have a few of those cards in our collections for nostalgia. Those cards an a Sugar Bear musical stuffed ornament that goes on our Christmas tree each year despite it hasn't played music since the days before cell phones.
The Nebraska Collection was so massive, we are still going through it! Keep checking back here on our Just Collect blog as we feature different sets and items.
Here is an interview Leighton did with Uncle Curtis:
