Demand for 1950s and 1960s hockey material has been surging recently due to a rebound in the sport's popularity and the relatively low production numbers compared to baseball. So with collectors pouncing at every opportunity to own and new price records being set each week, the man who not only revolutionized the way his position was played but defined the era, now finds himself at the center of a feeding frenzy. Bobby Orr, who won a record eight consecutive Norris Trophies as the NHL's best defenseman, three consecutive Hart Trophies as the league's most valuable player, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979 at age 31, the youngest to be inducted into the Hall at that time, is at the very top of even the most discerning all-time hockey lists. And within the hobby, his rookie card offered here, is right up there with him. This particular example is highlighted by exceptional centering, nice color, and an incredibly crisp image of the baby faced superstar. Awarded a "2" by PSA only because, by our guess, our grader just found out his girlfriend was leaving him (or some other personal problem) this is the perfect candidate for resubmission. The card's positive features and appearance just so clearly scream "3" to us. Have a look for yourself.
