The last pitcher to notch 30 wins in a season is now selling his personal collection.  You could own items from legendary Tiger, Denny McLain!  The now 76 year-old McLain is letting his items go an an estate sale next week.

Denny McLain

While you may know Denny simply as the answer to a trivia question of "who was the last pitcher to win 30 games in a season?", the man had himself a season back in 1968.  As a pitcher, McLain accomplished more in one season that most pitchers do in a career.

1968 season:

  • 31 wins
  • Cy Young award
  • MVP award
  • All-Star
  • World Series champion

That's one heck of a run!  It's easy to remember 31 wins, but adding in all the hardware and most importantly, the ring, Denny probably could have called it a career right then and there.  However, the man piled up a few more great stats, often overshadowed by his incredible 1968 season; he won ANOTHER CY YOUNG.

In 1970, McLain followed-up his 30-win campaign by winning 24 games and taking how his second Cy Young award in a row!

Plague by other issues in his career - OK, multiple issues -  nobody can ever take away the fact that Denny McLain once stood on top of the MLB world.  Now, after years of collecting, McLain is having an estate sale of his memorabilia!
