Having an autograph of your favorite player is a feat that few can claim, but this client has that and more!

STORY OF THE AUTOGRAPHS

While the story starts in the not-so-distant past, it spans across many decades. Recently, our client was helping out with a school fundraiser for his kids, where they were looking to purchase antiques or silver items. The client went through a stash of forgotten items in his basement, and ended up finding enough silver to net him $2500 for the fundraiser! That got him thinking about what else could be lurking in his basement.

Taking another trip down there, he came across his childhood collection of baseball cards. As he went through them, taking a leisure stroll down memory lane, it became apparent very quickly that while he had some cards that wouldn’t be worth much, he also had a slew of cards that were autographed.

When asked about how he obtained these, he said he remembered attending games by, like most kids of the time, nagging his parents to take him and getting cards signed in person. He also took up writing letters to his favorite players, asking for autographs too. Many of the players here were more than happy to send their autograph back to him. This method is definitely a product of the times, as many players now have exclusive signing contracts with big companies, so to have such an extensive collection truly shows the dedication our client put in with getting his favorite players to sign for him!

Below are the cards that highlight this collection. Nolan Ryan signed four times for our client, along with other stars like Willie Mays, and Roger Maris. Other hard-won signatures include players like Lou Brock, Ted Williams and Pete Rose are also part of the collection. Check out all the awesome signatures he collected below!

APPRAISAL AND PURCHASE

The client did some research upon seeing what he had, though he wasn't sure of the actual values of the cards. After doing a lot of that, he finally came across Just Collect and submitted an appraisal form. Finding out that he was local to our shop, he wasted no time in coming in, wherein he was then put in contact with John, our Vice President of acquisitions. John walked him through our process and made the client comfortable enough to leave the cards with us for a full and free appraisal.

John himself was shocked to see how many autographed cards were in the collection and eager to dig into it.

Afterwards, John reached out with his evaluation and our client happily agreed to it! That's another one in the books for Just Collect!

If you choose to mail your cards for an appraisal, we will evaluate your cards for FREE still. If you choose not to sell the cards, we'll ship them back shipping fees paid by us!
