We had so much fun with you at the 2023 National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago that we already signed up for a booth at the 2024 show! Let's go behind the scenes where you will see how old school the process is. Follow us through the closed doors, in a secret location, as we draw our booth number. We're not sure if recording was allowed but we won't tell if you don't.
The 2023 National was phenomenal! From interviewing Derek Jeter to purchasing collections, and getting to meet you in-person, we loved every second of this year's convention. We enjoyed the show so much, we've already picked out our booth numbers for 2024! The process is a true throwback to the early days of collecting; there is not a single computer in the room! Imagine that - a convention with hundreds of buyers, sellers, and the biggest companies in our hobby put on a show for 100,000 people like yourself and not a single computer is used when mapping out the booths. We knew you wouldn't believe the old school process, so we took video as we chose our booth number! We're not 100 % certain cameras were allowed, but this was too good not to capture.
At 8:00 AM on the Saturday morning of the 2023 National, we went into a side entrance of the Donald E Stephen's Center. While the show was taking place on the floor, our owner, Leighton, was about to be "drafted" for 2024! The line was VERY long but we were able to catch up with old friends, share donuts and smiles.
Upon entering, there are employees on the right that took the Just Collect form that consisted of our company name, address, and contact information. Leighton exchanged his form for an index card with his name printed on it. That index card was delivered to the master of ceremonies who then shuffled all index cards. One by one, an index card was drawn and the name read aloud. When Leighton heard his name, he first held up his index card like he was at the NBA Draft! Leighton then ventured to the map of the 2024 National showroom where he was able to select an open booth.
For 2024, Just Collect will be with our good friends at Baseball Card Exchange and our 2023 Booth Buddy, Darren Rovell. Steve Hart, owner of Baseball Card Exchange, and Leighton are in the video together as they draw numbers.
BEHIND THE SCENES DRAWING BOOTH NUMBERS:
Doesn't this process take you back to the days of $2.00 admission tickets, an autograph from a legend like Lou Brock for $12.00, and the days when nobody knew what a graded card was? Thank you to all of the employees of the National for all of their hard work, and doing so by hand!
Leighton chose booth numbers 1642-1543. Mark your calendars for July 24th-28th; we will see you in Cleveland, OH!
