With the MLB Field of Dreams game taking place tonight, we look back on some of our favorite collections purchased in relation to the wonderful movie. Three incredible collections that includes Shoeless Joe Jackson cards including one from 1909 found in an old, sooty book found by a chimney in an attic less than a year ago!
When the clock strikes 7:00 PM tonight, the Yankees and White Sox take the field in Iowa for the Field of Dreams game. If you have seen the movie or read the book you know a lot of the story centers around the 1919 Chicago White Sox scandal of fixing the World Series. Tied up in the "Black Sox" scandal was Shoeless Joe Jackson, featured prominently in Field of Dreams. Just Collect is always interested in buying Shoeless Joe Jackson cards! In honor of tonight's game, we take you back to our favorite collections with a Field of Dreams touch.
WEST VIRGINIA ATTIC FIND FEATURING SHOELESS JOE E90-1
In June of 2020, we received an e-mail from a gentleman in West Virginia stating while renovating his house he found an album of baseball cards. Found near a a chimney, the book was a little dirty and had a little soot on the album. Opening up the book, the man found more than tobacco cards, mostly from the T206 set. After reviewing the cards, he noticed there were cards from the E95, E90-1, and T210 cards. As we read the e-mail and reviewed the photographs, we noticed Ty Cobb, Cy Young, and whoa! There is a Shoeless Joe Jackson card! You can read all about the story and see each of the photos right HERE.
