The National Sports Collectors Convention Highlights and Photos

Written by Monte Jennings | Jul 26, 2024 2:44:07 AM

Mickey Mantle cards, 1911 T3 Turkey Reds, a very special 1980 Topps Larry Bird-Magic Johnson rookie card, and incredible times! Day two of the National Sports Collectors just wrapped up, and we want to share the highlights with you.

Day two of the 2024 National just wrapped up, and before we go to bed and dream of cardboard treasures, we want to share a few spectacular moments from the show today.

The first photo in our slide show below holds great meaning to us. Three Mickey Mantle cards start us off including Topps cards from the 1961, 1965, and 1969 sets. A signed 1968 Topps Nolan Ryan rookie card, with Ryan inking over his portion of the card he shares with Jerry Koosman. One of the hottest basketball cards at the National is here, a 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card. A 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig card graded PSA 5 might usually be the center piece of a collection, but the next card is what we love most about this lot. The card in the second photo is a 1980 Topps Larry Bird-Magic Johnson rookie card graded PSA 9. Our late friend, Dom, joined a card break with our sister company, . Fresh from a sealed pack, Vintage Breaks pulled this stunning beauty for Dom. Today, Dom's son, Jace, came to our booth 1543 and was interested in selling the collection. We are honored Jace sold us his dad's cards, and we proudly purchased these iconic cards.

The third photo in our slide show below is our owner, Leighton, all smiles! A gentleman brought multiple 1911 T3 Turkey Red cards over for an appraisal. The collector also has a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card  and a Michael Jordan autograph he obtained in-person before game in his rookie year back in 1984! Make sure to check back here on the Just Collect blog for the complete story about this collection with a video; we'll show you the whole collection after the National!

Another collector, Robert, saw a 1914 Cracker Jack card we had available. Robert and Leighton completed a deal that included a few additional vintage cards for trade. Happy to see the Cracker Jack go to a good home! We can't wait to show you the video and full story later this week! You can see the card and a very happy Robert in photos four and five.

In the final photo of our slide show below, you can see Leighton and our President, John, wearing the new, special edition Hindu t-shirts! We DO have The Hindu Collection right at our booth if you'd like to come and see a piece of baseball history.

So when you're ready to sell, we understand the feelings that you're going through and will work with you to help you reach a decision that is a WIN/WIN, because if you're not happy, we're not happy.
