A fresh-to-the-hobby collection of vintage cards came through our doors here at the Just Collect store in New Jersey. A local gentleman stopped by, interested in finding his collection a new home. From Cy Young to Mickey Mantle, see what Just Collect proudly purchased.

Our doors are always open here at Just Collect. A gentleman named Scott found us through a Google search and realized we are located just 10 minutes away from his home.

Scott was heavy into collecting comic books as a kid. He and his dad would visit their nearby hobby store where they would buy and trade their collectibles. While Scott was more focused into the comics, his dad was all about baseball cards - anything baseball!

Recently, Scott decided to sell the cards his dad collected from back in their hobby store-visiting days, and visited our store here in Millburn, NJ. Realizing we are located just around the corner, Scott made the short trip to bring the cards here directly for a free appraisal. Here are a few of the cards Scott had:

In the first slide, you can see a beautiful 1956 Topps Jackie Robinson on top. The horizontal design is one of our favorites. Jackie can be seen sliding into home behind his portrait; such a spectacular card and set. In the middle on the left you'll see a 1967 Topps Mickey Mantle. The Mick was near the end of his illustrious career; a veteran at the age of 35 in this close-up shot with a blue background. He and his dad would visit their nearby hobby store where they would buy and trade their collectibles. Sandwiched between the Mantle cards is a 1909-11 T206 Cy Young. Not only did Scott's dad collect stars of the 1950's and 1960's, he had an eye for vintage legends on tobacco cards, too. The Hall of Famer is pained in front of a gorgeous orange and yellow sky. The last card in the first slide is none other than Willie Mays from 1967 Topps. Mays was all smiles in this card, perhaps because he was still putting up phenomenal stats - he named an All-Star that season and won a Gold Glove award.

Slide two is filled with more stars and legends! The entire middle row contains four more Mickey Mantle cards. He and his dad would visit their nearby hobby store where they would buy and trade their collectibles. In the bottom row history continues with Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, and another Willie Mays card. Each one of the cards alone are stupendous; what a treat to see them all in a row.

Legends galore in slide three. Gil Hodges, Tom Seaver, Brooks Robinson, and Rod Carew are in the top row. Mantle, Aaron, and Banks in the middle, followed by Yogi Berra, Stan Musial, Frank Robinson, and another Roberto Clemente card on that bottom row.

Each time your eyes move to a new card, the memories of your youth come back. Whether you collected these cards as a kid, or you heard the stories from your dad like Scott did, this collection takes you back to carefree days and 10-cent packs of cards. The days of hand-writing down your cards or using a pen to check off the cards from each set you had on the back of the checklist card. Did you ever use graph paper to keep track of your sets? We did! You could probably still find the graph paper holding the counts of 1987 Topps with the wood borders in our houses.

We gave Scott our free appraisal and he happily accepted. He wanted these cards to go to a new home that would appreciate them the way his dad did. We paid Scott how he wanted to be paid. If you choose to mail your cards for an appraisal, we will evaluate your cards for FREE still. If you choose not to sell the cards, we'll ship them back shipping fees paid by us! We can offer our FedEx account with 2-day shipping, fully insured, all covered by us. Simply contact the office to set up this option.
