Willie Mays' 1954 New York Giants World Series ring is one of the personal items from the legendary player heading to auction! Here is what other items are going to be in the auction and why these prized possessions will be heading to new homes.
Considered the greatest all-around player in baseball, Willie Mays did it ALL on the field. Hitting for power, Mays slugged 660 home runs. On the bases, Mays swiped 339 bags. While prowling the field, Mays won 12 Gold Glove awards. Voted league MVP twice, Mays also brought a World Series championship to his New York Giants in 1954. Now, some of the most unbelievable treasures which belonged to Willie Mays are now going to be at auction, and for a wonderful cause. Proceeds of the auction will go to the Say Hey! Foundation to help underprivileged children opportunities though education, nutrition, and safer communities.

The Giants swept the Cleveland Indians 4-0. Mays collected four hits, scored four runs, knocked in three RBI, and walked four times. The defensive player Mays pulled off is what really stole the show; "The Catch" happened in game one. In the 8th inning of a 2-2 game, Mays chased own a ball to make an over-the-shoulder catch and then hurled in a fantastic throw to keep the score even. This play is one of the greatest in history!
While leading the Giants to a World Series win in 1954, Mays was also voted MVP that season behind a.345 average, 41 home runs, and 110 RBI. In 1965, Mays won his second MVP while batting .317, hitting 52 home runs, and knocking in 112 RBI.
Mays won 12 in his career, and this particular award could be yours. In 1963, Mays 1,387 innings in centerfield and had 414 chances against only 8 errors. Mays had 8 assists and even a double play from the outfield.
