1952 Topps Mickey Mantle Chase Pulled from 2026 Topps Series 1

The Biggest Chase Has Been Found!
  • June 03, 2026

The biggest chase card in our hobby has been pulled! A 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card was inserted into 2026 Topps Series 1 baseball cards and the iconic card has surfaced. What was the grade? How much is the card worth? Where can you see the card? We answer all your questions!

Earlier this year, we told you how Topps was inserting a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card into their new 2026 Topps Series 1 release. Usually, in modern products, you're cashing 1/1 Superfractors or big-time autos. Topps changed the game this year and put the chase of chases in! It took a few months since the release, but the Mantle has been pulled!

Topps used a "redemption" card and didn't place the actual Mantle rookie in a pack. Someone may have dropped a pack and dinged the card! As you know, condition is very important when determining the value of a card. Using a scale from 1 to 10, the difference between a grade of 1 and 2 on a Mantle rookie is thousands of dollars! The odds of pulling the Mantle were long, but a father and son in Houston, TX made the life-changing pull!

The card is now at auction through Goldin HERE. We now see the grade is a PSA 5.5. The auction ends June 28th and the bidding is currently at $120,000.  The last sale of a PSA 5 was $200,080.00, and this card is a half grade better. What do you think the final sale price will be? Let us know in the comments.

Topps is inserting a Hank Aaron rookie into 2026 Series 2 which comes out later this month. Since we all missed out on the Mantle, we can look forward to chasing the Hank Aaron rookie!

Above is a hobby box of 2026 Topps Series 1 baseball cards. On the cover is Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey Jr, Shohei Ohtani, and Aaron Judge. The Topps logo and 75th anniversary stamp are featured on the cover. We love how it appears Ohtani and Judge are tipping their caps to Aaron and Griffey! To the right is a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card (not the exact card from Topps) which we proudly purchased at Just Collect. We are always buying vintage cards and select modern stars. If you can make the trip here like the son from my hometown did for this collection- we can make a deal at the office. We once met a father-son duo that drove eight hours from Virginia to meet us to sell a Michael Jordan rookie card stored in Tupperware since 1986 - great read here.

  • Come to convention

We keep a LIST of card shows we'll be attending. Come stop by the Just Collect table and chat.

  • Meet in-person

If you have a valuable collection and want us to come to you, we'll hop on the next plane out.

  • Meet in New York City

If you're near New York City and would like to meet in a public place, our owner, Leighton, would be happy to meet you; read all the information here.

  • SHIP your collection

If you choose to mail your cards for an appraisal, we will evaluate your cards for FREE still. If you choose not to sell the cards, we'll ship them back shipping fees paid by us!
