2022 Topps International Trading Card Day is August 6th

Free Cards Expand Beyond Baseball This Year and Include Other Sports
  • July 12, 2022

National Baseball Card Day has a new name! This year you can celebrate International Trading Card Day as Topps is expanding their promotion of giving away a free pack of baseball cards to now include other sports.

National Baseball Card Day is always a favorite of ours. A holiday in the hobby! In previous years, Topps would send out packs of Baseball Card Day-themed cards to hobby shops. When you visited your local shop, you could take home a free pack of these special Topps cards. What a wonderful way to get kids into the hobby, help bring traffic to your favorite card shop, and add to your personal collection if you are looking for a unique card of your favorite player (adults can get a free pack, too!). Topps has made a change to the holiday this year by expanding the cards from not just baseball.

This year, Topps is changing the name of National Baseball Card Day to International Trading Card Day. Among the free packs are going to be UEFA (soccer) and Garbage Pail Kids! Talk about a trip down memory lane. We used to open our GPK stickers and place them all over the sticker books back the mid-1980s. Each pack will contain FIVE free cards.

Topps is sending card shops boxes that contain 30 baseball packs, 13 soccer packs, and 7 Garbage Pail Kids packs. Once your shop is out, they're out! Make sure to get your pack while supplies last.

WHEN: Saturday, August 6th

WHERE: You can see all details for participating shops HERE.

There are two bonus cards aside from the free packs. These two special cards are available if you spend $10 or more on qualifying purchases at your shop. On Saturday, August 6th, the special card will be of Shohei Ohtani. The following weekend on August 13th, the special card will feature Wander Franco. You still receive your FREE pack of five cards for visiting the shop on August 6th, these are just two bonus promotions that Topps will offer.

Back in 2019, Bryce Harper and Gleyber Torres were the two special promo cards.

We offer may ways to evaluate your cards other than or using our website, too.

  • Travel to Us

If you can make the trip here like the son from my hometown did for this collection- we can make a deal at the office. We once met a father-son duo that drove eight hours from Virginia to meet us to sell a Michael Jordan rookie card stored in Tupperware since 1986 - great read here

  • Come to convention

We keep a LIST of card shows we'll be attending.  Come stop by the Just Collect table and chat.

  • Meet in-person

If you have a valuable collection and want us to come to you, we'll hop on the next plane out. We recently took a trip to California to purchase a collection that included three Jackie Robinson 1948 Leaf rookie cards that you can read about here.

  • Meet in New York City

We have another location in New York you can meet us at; read all the information here.

  • SHIP your collection

If you choose to mail your cards for an appraisal, we will evaluate your cards for FREE still. If you choose not to sell the cards, we'll ship them back shipping fees paid by us!  We can offer our FedEx account with 2-day shipping, fully insured, all covered by us. Simply contact the office to set up this option.

OUR BUYING PHILOSOPHY

We've run into a wide range of people and collections over the last 25 years. Although Just Collect is known for buying vintage sports cards and especially vintage baseball cards, we are also extremely interested in buying non-sports cards, too!

Every collection and every collector is different and we treat EVERY collection with the respect and attention that we show for our own collections. We understand that many have put their heart and souls into building their collections. So when you're ready to sell, we understand the feelings that you're going through and will work with you to help you reach a decision that is a WIN/WIN, because if you're not happy, we're not happy.
