Albert Pujols' 700th Career Home Run Ball Sold for $360,000

The Owner is Currently a Mystery
  • November 18, 2022

The baseball that future Hall of Famer, Albert Pujols, blasted for his 700th career home run has been sold at auction. The mystery owner purchased the ball for $360,000!

On September 23rd, 2022, Marlowe Leal was the lucky fan to catch Albert Pujols' 700th career home run. The baseball was consigned to Goldin Auctions and when the hammer dropped on Saturday, the final price was $360,000.The owner's name has not been revealed yet; this is the fun part.

There are many big-time collectors in the hobby that would love to own such a historic piece. We'd love to see Pujols end up with the ball back - perhaps he was the high bidder! The Cardinals organization could have secretly made their bids and plan to display the ball at the stadium? Much like you, we're curious to see which name gets revealed. Who do YOU think purchased the ball? Tell us your guesses on any of our socials:

The sale price is not the record amount paid for a baseball, and it is not even close. The current record is 3.05 million dollars paid for Mark McGwire's 70th home run baseball. However, Goldin may come up big again and break that number, too. Right now Goldin Auctions is offering Aaron Judge's AL record 62nd home run ball on their site! Before consigning, the fan that caught Judge's ball states he turned down 3 million dollars already.

If you have a historic baseball or piece of memorabilia, we are always buying! We recently purchased a baseball signed by Babe Ruth that belonged to his Yankees teammate.

We purchased the ball directly from the family of a New York Yankee. You can read about this rare baseball HERE.

We offer many ways to evaluate your cards other than using our website, too.

  • Travel to us

If you can make the trip here like the son from my hometown did for this collection- we can make a deal at the office. We once met a father-son duo that drove eight hours from Virginia to meet us to sell a Michael Jordan rookie card stored in Tupperware since 1986 - great read here

  • Come to a convention

We keep a LIST of the card shows we'll be attending.  Come stop by the Just Collect table and chat.

  • Meet in-person

If you have a valuable collection and want us to come to you, we'll hop on the next plane out. We recently took a trip to California to purchase a collection that included three Jackie Robinson 1948 Leaf rookie cards that you can read about here.

  • Meet in New York City

We have another location in New York you can meet us at; read all the information here.

  • SHIP your collection

If you choose to mail your cards for an appraisal, we will evaluate your cards for FREE still. If you choose not to sell the cards, we'll ship them back with shipping fees paid by us!  We can offer our FedEx account with 2-day shipping, fully insured, all covered by us. Simply contact the office to set up this option.

OUR BUYING PHILOSOPHY

We've run into a wide range of people and collections over the last 25 years. Although Just Collect is known for buying vintage sports cards and especially vintage baseball cards, we are also extremely interested in buying non-sports cards, too!

We understand that many have put their heart and souls into building their collections. So when you're ready to sell, we understand the feelings that you're going through and will work with you to help you reach a decision that is a WIN/WIN, because if you're not happy, we're not happy.
