An incredible piece of baseball history is now in the hands of a new owner!  A brick of EIGHT sealed 1952 Topps baseball wax packs was sold this week. The big questions are HOW MUCH and WOULD YOU OPEN A PACK?

Our good friends over at Baseball Card Exchange confirmed this morning that a collector took home an AMAZING brick of sealed wax packs from the iconic 1952 Topps baseball set!  The BBCE owner, Steve Hart, confirmed today that EIGHT packs of '52 Topps Topps baseball cards was purchased from their store but the buyer wishes to remain silent.

This blog is sponsored by JUST COLLECT where we specialize in buying vintage cards, autographs, and collections.  If you have any 1952 Topps cards or any of THESE cards, those are are on our BUY LIST if you're interested in selling!

BBCE brought the 8 packs for the last National Show in 2019 and the display drew plenty of buzz in the industry.  The packs are most likely from Series 1 and could contain mint cards of Hall of Famers Bob Feller, Duke Snider, Enos Slaughter, or the highly-sought card #1 in the set - Andy Pafko.  According to PSA, there are no Pakfo cards graded higher than an 8 (out of 10) and one of the three-known cards graded an 8 sold for over $95,000 back in 2007.

We know for certain that Mickey Mantle's rookie card won't be in these packs; Mantle's rookie resides in the high-number 6th series packs.  We told you the crazy story about most of those packs being dumped into the Atlantic Ocean so only a few packs that could hold Mick rookie are known.  There still a chance at some high-grade cardboard gold going to a new owner in the packs sold this week.

HOW MUCH?

The price at the 2019 National WAS $575,000.

We know the sports card industry has been HOT lately; we can only assume this asking price has increased quite a bit since 2019.  However, we're not quite sure what the cost was yesterday as the buyer wants to remain anonymous.  Just look at those packs, though; it's like a time capsule from almost 70 years ago.

WOULD YOU OPEN ANY OF THE PACKS?

So. Many. Questions.

1. Will the owner open a pack?!

2. Will the owner open a pack?!

OK, so I have two questions and they're both the same.

I know how hard it is to resist a pack of 1989 Topps that set me back fifty cents; can't imagine walking by 1952 Topps wax packs daily and not opening at least one.  How about YOU? If you owned EIGHT packs, would you open one?

Let us know if YOU would open one of the packs:

WE PULLED A MANTLE:

We had the chance to open a 1955 Bowman pack live on the main stage at the National with our sister company, Vintage Breaks, and we pulled a MANTLE!  If you want to rip packs be it from the 50's or current, come check out Vintage Breaks!
