A 1955 Bowman Mickey Mantle card highlights a collection of vintage baseball cards Just Collect proudly purchased. The owner of the cards found us through an easy Google search of "how to sell my baseball cards." See what else was in the collection and how you can sell your cards today!

Russ' father collected cards going back to the 1950's. Like you and we did, Russ cherished his childhood card collection! Anytime Russ moved around in the State of Georgia, those cards went with him. Dad passed the collecting bug onto Russ, and he too collected cards up until the 1970's. Deciding it was time to part ways with the collection here in 2025, Russ did what we do all the time - went to Google. Russ typed in "how to sell my baseball cards", and found our free appraisal form on Just Collect.

THE COLLECTION

Russ' dad collected a few of our favorite baseball sets! The majority of the cards in this collection are from the 1955 Bowman baseball set. Bowman released 320 cards that year, each measuring 2-1/2" by 3-3/4” - just slightly bigger than a standard card these days of 2-1/2" by 3-1/2" in size. The design of the card is of a TV set! Remember floor models? Well before cable, no remotes, and you had to "warm up the TV"? The first photo below has the star of the show: Mickey Mantle. The Mick is a thee-time MVP who won seven World Series championships with his New York Yankees. Mantle is one of the most famous baseball players of all-time, and if you're looking for a card of The Mick from 1955, this Bowman was your go-to! Topps did not have a contract with Mantle in either 1954 or 1955; you had to get Mick on Bowman! The second photo below has a few more Hall of Famers including Mr. Cub, Ernie Banks, Richie Ashburn, Bob Feller, and Bob Lemon.

1956 Topps baseball cards shine in the third photo. Much like the 1955 Bowman cards, Topps produced each card in a horizontal design in 1956. Each card features portrait and an action photo! A complete set of 1956 Topps cards consists of 340 cards, with each measuring 2-5/8" by 3-3/4". Russ' dad didn't have a complete set, but did collect a few icons of the diamond! TWO cards of Ted Williams, the last player to bat over .400. Below Teddy Ballgame is Al Kaline and Roberto Clemente.

The final photo has a few 1957 Topps baseball cards from Russ' dad that you spot in the bottom row. The remainder of the cards are from Russ' collection when he was a kid. The top card here is in the first row, all the way to the right - a 1975 Topps Nolan Ryan. While this particular Ryan card isn't super valuable, you should never turn down the chance to own a vintage card from the fireballer!

APPRAISAL AND PURCHASE

After Russ filled out our easy-to-use free appraisal from he found after his Google search, our Acquisitions Specialist, Dan, contacted Russ to explain the process.  We have purchased thousands upon thousands of collections and bought and sold over 50 MILLION dollars in cards. The retail stores are focused on selling modern products and simply don't have the time or the knowledge to carefully evaluate vintage collections. This is where we are happy to help you.

Dan reviewed the photos Russ provided and made him a fair offer to purchase the collection. Russ happily accepted our offer and chose to SHIP the cards to our store in Summit, NJ. with our fully-insured, two-day FedEx account. We then paid Russ how he wanted to be paid! When you choose to sell your collection to Just Collect, we can pay you in cash, company check, or wire transfer. Russ is excited that these cards will go to a new home for someone else to enjoy the cards like both he and his dad did. Thank you for allowing us to purchase your collection, Russ!
