We have heard stories about baseball cards found inside of a wall, but never about them glued to a wall. That’s what Melissa Brodt of Idaho discovered in her new home when she pulled off a sheet of shingles that uncovered 1,600 baseball cards. While the cards themselves do not have much monetary value, the sentimentality of the era in which these cards were produced have brought excitement to collectors.

The names of Dave Revering, Jack Lazorko, and Dan Schatzeder aren’t going to ring a bell, but if you were a kid who loved late 80’s baseball cards, the familiar designs of Topps, Donruss, and Fleer are going to bring back wonderful memories of buying packs and immediately opening them in the car, with friends, or with your dad. That was the case for Chris Nelson, who with help from his parents, glued the baseball cards to the wall over 30 years ago.

“I had a ridiculous amount of baseball cards,” said Nelson as he reminisced about his childhood collection. “Me and my buddies. That was the only thing we spent our money on.” With over 10 thousand cards in his possession and a suggestion from his mother, the Nelson’s spent a weekend in 1989 gluing his baseball cards to the wall. After five years, the shingles were placed over the cards. Once forgotten, the discovery of the wall has given us another amazing story about baseball cards and another Unexpected Place You Might Find Sports Cards.
