This week we bring to you this 1951 Bowman #253 Mickey Mantle Rookie HOF Yankees BGS BVG 2.5 baseball card. Mantle spent his entire 18-year Hall of Fame career in pinstripes, and is regarded as the best switch hitter of all time. He hit for both average and power, belting over 500 homeruns, while maintaining close to a .300 average. Mantle led the Yankees to 12 World Series appearances, winning 7 of them, and played in 20 All-Star games. He was also awarded MVP honors three different times, and was elected into the baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.
Always one of the most popular and arguably the most widely collected vintage superstar, early release Mickey Mantle cards have withstood a tighter economy and continue to realize record sale prices with no slowdown in sight. This example of his 1951 Bowman rookie card, was graded a BVG 2.5, but presents nicer, as it displays great color and clarity. As with any Mantle card, this is a must have for any collector!
