Day One Recap of the 2023 National Sports Collectors Convention

The National in Chicago is THE Place to Be
  • July 27, 2023

When the doors opened at 3:00 PM today, you got your first glimpse of the 2023 National here in Chicago. If you haven't stopped by the Just Collect booth to sell your cards, or pickup a great vintage card to take home, we are here all week, and can't wait to meet you at booth 2102. Today was AMAZING! Take a look at a few behind-the-scenes photos as we recap Day One of The National.

The Donald E Stephens Convention Center here in Chicago opened the doors earlier for the first day of the 2023 National Sports Collectors Convention. Thank you for stopping by the Just Collect booth #2102! From open to close, we had the pleasure of reviewing your collections, purchasing your cards, and offering you the rarest and finest vintage cards in the hobby. You also enjoyed seeing our friend, Darren Rovell, and his display of show-stopping memorabilia including the vest Matthew Broderick wore in Ferris Bueller' Day Off. If you haven't arrived to the show yet, don't worry; we are here all week! Here are a few behind-the-scenes photos of Day One at the National.

When you see an SGC 9 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle, you know you're at the National; only here can you find such a treasure:

Our owner, Leighton, is holding a 1967 Topps Series 2 rack pack he will open for you through our sister company, Vintage Breaks. You can see how to take home a card from this pack HERE:

If you saw a man reviewing a collection of Babe Ruth Goudey cards at the Starbucks here in the show, that was Leighton! When you're here at the National, you get so excited, you forget to take lunch and spend your break doing what we love - buying baseball cards:

Speaking of Babe Ruth - this is a ticket to the game where he called his shot! During game 3 of the 1932 World Series, The Sultan of Swat pointed to where he was going to knock a home run...and then he homered:

If you're looking for rare tickets, Darren Rovell is your go-to here at booth 2102. The CEO of  PSA, Nat Turner, stopped by to see Darren's collection:

Darren also has the original vest that Matthew Broderick wore in Ferris Bueller's Day off here at booth 2102:

Our Vice President, John, is telling a story on the provenance of the cards we offer you. Each card comes with an amazing story, many of which you have read about right here on the Just Collect blog:

Whether you have complete sets, single vintage cards of stars and Hall of Famers or rare and monumental tickets, we would love for you to stop by. Be on the lookout for more behind-the-scenes photos from the show; once the doors officially open, you won't believe what is happening here at The National!
