High-graded PSA cards from the 1933 World Wide Gum set have proudly been purchased by Just Collect. A simple phone call several weeks ago led to not one, but THREE collection purchases of amazing vintage cards and a huge collection of a modern star.
Recently, you read about an impeccable collection of high-grade 1933 Goudey cards. When our receptionist, Kristen, took a phone call from a gentleman named Nick, we had no idea that one simple call would turn into Just Collect purchasing two amazing collections!
1933 World Wide Gum cards look nearly identical to 1933 Goudey baseball cards, don't they? The World Wide Gum set is the Canadian counterpart to the US Goudey set. You may recall seeing the similar O-Pee-Chee cards from Canada that were the counterpart to Topps cards from the US when you were a kid opening packs. While the size of each card is the same, the set size is smaller; just 94 cards encompass the World Wide Gum set in 1933. The set does have the same big names such as Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, too.
As you look at the photos in our slide show below, you'll notice the CONDITION of the cards on these 1933 World Wide Gum cards is astounding!
In the first photo, you see a stack of World Wide Gum cards. The top row, starting with Henry Schuble, are all graded PSA 7. The high-grades continue on the bottom row including a pair of cards in the middle graded PSA 8! The Bob O'Farrell card with a grade of 8 has only ONE card ever graded higher - a single card was graded PSA 9 and zero have been graded PSA 10. The PSA 8 Larry Benton is THE HIGHEST GRADED example known - no other examples have been graded higher than a PSA 8. In fact, only 19 examples of a 1933 World Wide Gum Larry Benton have even been graded.
As you view the second photo, you can see Hall of Famer, Bill Terry, starting out with portrait version and the final card on the bottom right is another Hall of Famer, Lefty O'Doul. As teammates, both made the All-Star game and won the World Series in this year of 1933. These Hall of Fame cards and each in between on the second photo are all graded PSA 6.
The third photo is filled with more Hall of Famers and stars, each with a grade of PSA 6. Bill Terry starts us out again in the top left, this card is of him pitching, and included are Hall of Famers Al Simmons (third card in), Bill Dickey (fourth card in), Speaking of Bill Dickey, we recently purchased a collection of 1930's Bill Dickey cards, the Yankees Hall of Fame catcher that you can see HERE.
Here are photos of this superb 1933 World Wide Gum collection:
The owner of the collection, Nick, initially called our office at at (732) 828-2261 and spoke with our wonderful receptionist, Kristen, about 1933 Goudey baseball cards. Upon sending an e-mail to our President of Acquisitions, John, and our owner, Leighton, Nick arranged for our free appraisal. After using a small batch of the Goudey baseball cards, we gave Nick our initial offer, and he then asked to meet us here at the Just Collect office in Summit, NJ. to discuss the evaluation. Nick chose to sell his collection of 1933 Goudey cards to Just Collect. This initial phone call led to more than just the Goudey collection - Nick also had these 1933 World Wide Gum cards he wanted to sell.
Combined, Leighton and John have 50 years of experience appraising and purchasing vintage cards like the 1933 World Wide Gum cards. Nick had such a great experience by selling his collection of Goudey cards to Just Collect, he had both Leighton and John provide a free appraisal on World Wide Gum cards, too.
We made a fair offer for all of the 1933 World Wide Gum cards and Nick happily accepted. We paid Nick via bank wire; the same as he wished when we purchased his Goudey collection. When you sell your collection to Just Collect, we pay you how you want to be paid. If bank wire isn't for you, we can pay you in cash or company check.
Can't make it to our office in Summit, NJ. like Nick did? Don't worry - we offer many ways to evaluate and purchase your collection! Recently, we flew out West to Seattle to purchase a huge basketball collection with complete sets going back to 1948! We drove up the East Coast to Boston where a collector sold us high-grade cards from the 1909-11 T206 and 1952 Topps baseball sets in the I Love Baseball Collection. We can also evaluate your collection if you opt to ship your cards in with our two-day, fully insured FedEx Express account as well. If you're interested in selling a collection, we would love to hear from you!
Not only did Nick have a collection of high-grade 1933 World Wide Gum cards, he also had 1933 Goudey baseball cards! Much like this collection of World Wide Gum cards, the Goudey cards Nick was interested in selling were also in very high-grade. With a wonderful experience during the evaluation and purchase, Nick chose to sell Just Collect his 1933 Goudey Baseball collection, too! You can see the second collection we proudly purchased from Nick HERE.
