Opening Vintage Topps Packs and Hearing Stories with Former Phillies Closer Mitch Wild Thing Williams [VIDEO]

Opening Packs, Hearing Stories, and Losing the 1993 World Series
  • June 16, 2021

Former big league closer, Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams sat down with our owner, Leighton Sheldon, to open vintage wax packs, tell us some old stories and even owning up to what you know him best for: losing the 1993 World Series for the Phillies.

While at the Philadelphia card show in Valley Forge with our sister company, Vintage Breaks, we had the chance to open packs of cards and have a conversation with Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams.

After giving Mitch the choice of opening a baseball card pack from 1985 in search of a Roger Clemens rookie or 1983 Topps baseball card pack that may hold a rookie card from friend of Just Collect, Wade Boggs, Williams quickly opted for the '83 because he liked to throw up and in at Boggs 🤣

Watch the video below to see not just which cards came out of the packs, but to hear a few cool stories about Mitch's career and memories he has of other players.  Leighton also ask Wild Thing about a unique baseball record of his, and believe it or not - Mitch talks about blowing the 1993 World Series.

"Fill out your complaint forms and leave them right here."  Amazing!  Glad Mitch can joke a little about blowing a World Series; that can't be easy.

If you have any vintage wax packs yourself that you're interested in selling, we are always buying collections!

WE ARE ALWAYS BUYING

Just Collect is always buying vintage sports and non-sports cards from 1879 to 1979 as well as select modern cards. Your collection doesn't have to be all vintage like this collection either!  I recently bought a graded card collection of more modern cards that was filled with rookie cards of Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady, and even Hulk Hogan that you can see here.

If you have a collection that you are considering selling, contact me today to discuss or get our industry-leading purchase offer. If you have a collection that you want appraised, please contact us and I would be happy to discuss your collection and help you understand the real cash value of your collection in the current marketplace. Check out the Just Collect buy list blog here

OUR BUYING PHILOSPHY

We've run into a wide range of people and collections over the last 25 years. Although Just Collect is known for buying vintage sports cards and especially vintage baseball cards, we are also extremely interested in buying non-sports cards, too!

Every collection and every collector is different and we treat EVERY collection with the respect and attention that we show for our own collections. We understand that many have put their heart and souls into building their collections. So when you're ready to sell, we understand the feelings that you're going through and will work with you to help you reach a decision that is a WIN/WIN, because if you're not happy, we're not happy.
