Signed 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle Rookie Card Sold for $422,400.00

New Price Record for an Autographed 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle Rookie
  • April 30, 2023

A new price record has been set for a signed 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card. Just a few hours ago, the final bid at For the Love of the Game auctions was a whopping $422,400!

In the cards settling to the bottom of the Atlantic was none other than the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie. Mantle won 7 World Serie championships with the New York Yankees. On his way to a Hall of Fame career, The Mick won 3 MVP awards (1956, 1957, and 1962) and the Triple Crown (leading the league in batting average, home runs, and RBI) in 1956. With Mantle's legendary career and the rareness of the card, a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card is both very desirable and valuable.

Having athletes sign their rookie cards has always been a big debate in the hobby. While asking players to sign cards has became more prevalent in recent years and sort of the norm, this was once frowned upon. After all, you're technically defacing the card. PSA has only authenticated 18 signed 1952 Topps Mantle cards! When one of these signed cards becomes available, there is an excellent chance a price record will be set. That is exactly what happened just hours ago!

A signed 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card graded PSA 2 for the card and a PSA 10 for the autograph was sold for $422,400. You can see the card with Love of the Game Auctions HERE.

Here is a signed Mantle we saw in-person at the 2022 National. You can see a young Mantle looking out in the distance, maybe thinking about where is next home run was going to land. This signed card has Mick's classic signature on the front with the M's over the yellow-ish bat.
