The 1929 Kashin Collection With Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig Cards

We're beyond excited to showcase a collection of 1929 Kashin Publications baseball cards Just Collect purchased from a collector in Connecticut. This unique collection includes legendary players such as Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Incredibly, this collection includes the ORIGINAL BOX!

When Roger reached out on our FREE APPRAISAL to inquiry about his 1929 Kashin Publications baseball card collection, one thing that caught our eye was the colorful box - the ORIGINAL box that these cards were distributed in!

1929 KASHIN PUBLICATIONS (R316)

The Kashin cards were released in four different series and totaled 101 cards. Each series had 25 cards per box, with each box containing a Babe Ruth . One card per box had been removed to make room for The Sultan of Swat, making for four short prints. Each card is a beautiful, black and white photograph of each player along with a facsimile signature. The cards are unnumbered, and backs of each card are blank, but it is easy to track down the players in the set (which includes stars such as Babe, Lou Gehrig, Jimmy Foxx, Mel Ott, and more!) by using the checklist on the back of each box. The four different series came in Orange, Blue, Coral, or Canary boxes. You may recall similar boxes with a checklist on the back like the Drake's Big Hitters back in the 1980's or the Five and Dime stores such as K-Mart or Ames sold.

THE COLLECTION

Any time a Babe Ruth card shows up to the Just Collect office, we're having a great day! Now picture a Ruth card from 1929 arriving in the ORIGINAL BOX!

We geeked out a little more over how nice the box is. Try to imagine how many times this box was opened and closed - each time a kid in 1929 opened that box to show friends that Ruth card. You would have opened that box 50 times each day! So would have we... actually, we probably opened it 50 times this week alone. This collection survived The Great Depression, was around for the very first Academy Awards, and the first demonstration of the color TV.

Each of the 25 cards from the collection are still in gorgeous condition as the box protected the cards for the last 80 + years. Let's look at how amazing these Kashin cards look:

This 25-card collection fortunately includes Gehrig; his card is NOT in the other three series! The PSA population report has just 53 Gehrig cards graded, and 188 Ruth's on record. Look at Babe and Lou, side by side:

While other sets of the era such as 1933 Goudey have drawn-renditions of players, the 1929 Kashin cards give you a true look at the players. The real uniforms, actual stances or positions in the field - just an incredible look back in time.
