The Top 5 Football Card Collections Just Collect Has Purchased

We Are Buying During The NFL Playoffs!
  • January 14, 2022

The NFL Playoffs are here and like you, we have pigskin fever! Even if the J-E-T-S are on the outside (again...) looking in.  Today we'll share our Top 5 favorite football card collections Just Collect has purchased recently, and tell you I am actively BUYING collections, too!

SUPER Wild Card Weekend for the NFL is here and we're excited for playoff football!  While my beloved Jets aren't in the playoffs (you're killing me, Jets...killing me...), like you, I'll be glued to the TV starting with the 4:30 PM game on Saturday for the Raiders and Bengals through Monday night for the Cardinals and Rams.  Gearing up for the games has me reminiscing about my favorite football collections I've purchased recently here at Just Collect.  I'd love to share these collections with you and let you know that we ARE BUYING football collections!  My e-mail will be open all weekend if you are interested in selling your football cards; I'm always available to give you a FREE APPRAISAL !

1955 Topps All-Amercan Football Cards Just Collect-1

When a collector named Sam reached out to us on our free appraisal section on the Just Collect website, I was happy to review his vintage sports card collection. I offer many ways to review and appraise collections that includes meeting you at a convention (we keep a calendar of events we attend here) or scheduling an appointment to review your collection in-person at our New Jersey office. Sam was not able to travel with his collection so we offered an option we use frequently at Just Collect - he could SHIP his collection.

Sam was a little hesitant on shipping his collection to Just Collect office; there were many valuable cards!  I understood the concerns and came up with a great proposal.  First I offered Sam our FedEx account with 2-day shipping, fully insured, all covered by me.  Then I suggested that he ship just a small batch of cards out for us to review  - to "test the waters" with selling his collection this way.  I'm proud to say that Sam has sold us MULTIPLE batches of cards now and I love hearing from him.  One of the recent purchases I made from Sam is a complete set of 1955 All-American football cards!  You can see the entire collection and read the story HERE.

This amazing BGS 9.5 Tom Brady 2000 Bowman Chrome rookie card was part of a big collection of graded cards I purchased, with this card highlighting the collection.  Love him or hate him, Tom Brady is The GOAT and he's still winning games at age 44.  He could start another Super Bowl run on Sunday when the Bucs play the Eagles at 1:00 PM, and is in the MVP discussion once more.  I had to puck up this rookie card!  You can see other football stars in the collection like rookies of John Elway, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning HERE. Yes, I'm always buying these rookie cards, too 😎

I couldn't put a list together of my favorite football collections without including the greatest JET ever, right? The 1965 Topps football cards measure in at 2 ½" x 4 11/16" and affectionately referred to as "Tall Boys."  From the day Joe Namath guaranteed victory in Super Bowl III, "Broadway Joe" has had an allure second to none in the sport.  This entire set was actually just part of a larger collection and you can read about both HERE.

I had the pleasure of reviewing and purchasing a really nice collection of late 1940's and early 1950's Bowman and Topps baseball cards. After I purchased the collection, the seller mention that there was also some football cards that he didn't think were worth including. After reviewing and purchasing the baseball portion of the collection, I convinced him that the football cards were probably worth more than he thought!  He was astonished at the value of the football cards from the 1950 and 1951 Bowman sets, and 1949 Leaf. Rookie cards of Y.A. Tittle and Tom Landry included (the Cowboys could use some of that Landry luck on against the 49ers on Sunday at 4:30 PM!).  Rather than showing you the photos, I have a video for the collection where you can see all of the cards HERE.

While this isn't a collection that I purchased, I was able to have NFL Hall of Famer, Warren Moon, open wax packs with my other company, Vintage Breaks.  At Vintage Breaks, you're able to buy spots into card breaks in every sport, non-sports, in wax packs or sets from the 1930's through the most recent 2022 products.  With the Titans having the first round BYE and top seed in the playoffs this season, I thought it would be nice to share a moment with the best QB from their team history (when they were the Oilers) where you can hear Mr. Moon tell cool stories to my friend, Darren Rovell, and I while he opens old wax packs.

If you would like to try and pull a pack-fresh Warren Moon rookie card, you can enter the card breaks with Vintage Breaks any time!  You can check out all the details of a 1985 Topps football pack break for here:
