1952 Topps Mickey Mantle Rookie PSA 10 Appearing at The National

See the Ultra-Rare Card Worth North of 10 Million Dollars!
  • July 25, 2022

One of the three-known PSA 10 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie cards is making a very rare public appearance this week, and you can see this iconic treasure up-close.

The 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card is one of the world's most valuable cards. In fact, even in very rough condition, this card can command top dollar. On a scale from 1 to 10, a Mantle rookie graded by PSA as a 9 sold for 5.2 MILLION dollars. If a PSA 9 card is valued at over five million dollars, imagine how much a PSA 10 would tally. That true figure may not be known; a PSA 10 is just so very rare, one may never come up for sale. Only THREE Mantle rookies have been graded Gem Mint PSA 10 - ever. One of those three copies will be on display for you to see this week!

Aside from being a superstar's rookie card, the cards are simply in short supply because of a crazy story!

At card number 311, Mantle's rookie was placed in the second series of the Topps releases. By the time the second series was released, kids forgot about baseball cards and focused their attention on the football cards that just came out. Cases of 1952 Topps Series 2 simply sat in a warehouse until they were DUMPED IN THE OCEAN.

Forgetting the scarcity of the cards, now try to picture keeping a card free of any damage since 1952! Nearly 70 years of touching, moving, or showing the card to your friends. Maybe you played a game of flip for your Mick or even put one in your bike spokes.

For these reasons, a PSA 10 Mickey Mantle Topps rookie card could very well be worth over TEN MILLION DOLLARS!  With such a value placed on any of the PSA 10 copies, you can understand that Mick doesn't make very many public appearances. Between the late 1990s and 2018, one hadn't seen the light of day. In 2018, a PSA 10 rode in style when it arrived by armored car for the viewing.

At THE NATIONAL this week, you can see the PSA 10 owned by Ken Kendrick, the Arizona Diamondbacks owner. Stop by the Collectors booth #2030. Stop by and see history at The National! If you're prepping your trek, we can help you out with 11 great tips for attending the show.

Make sure to come visit the Just Collect booth #936; we'd love to meet you!

If you have a Mickey Mantle rookie card you'd like to sell, I'd be interested in buying! I am very familiar with buying 1952 Topps cards, including the Mickey Mantle rookie. I purchased a Mantle rookie that was hiding on a shelf with jars of pickles!  Read the awesome story about the "pickles" Mantle HERE. A 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card was also part of The Black Box Collection that contained six complete vintage baseball sets.

Just Collect is always buying vintage sports and non-sports cards from 1879 to 1979 as well as select modern cards. If you can make the trip here like the son from my hometown did for this collection- we can make a deal at the office. We once met a father-son duo that drove eight hours from Virginia to meet us to sell a Michael Jordan rookie card stored in Tupperware since 1986 - great read here

  • Come to convention

We keep a LIST of card shows we'll be attending.  Come stop by the Just Collect table and chat.

  • Meet in-person

If you have a valuable collection and want us to come to you, we'll hop on the next plane out. We recently took a trip to California to purchase a collection that included three Jackie Robinson 1948 Leaf rookie cards that you can read about here.

  • Meet in New York City

We have another location in New York you can meet us at; read all the information here.
