Mickey Mantle baseball cards found in an old suitcase? That's not a story you hear every day, but it happened to us here at Just Collect. Come take a look at these unique 1965 Topps Push-Pull cards including Mickey Mantle, as well as other vintage cards of baseball Hall of Famers and where the cards were discovered.
We always tell you to check Unexpected Places for vintage cards. Perhaps a gentleman named Matt did just that, and found his father's vintage card collection inside an old suitcase!
When he was very young, Matt's father would tell him about baseball players of his generation like Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, and Roberto Clemente. Matt's father collected baseball cards and stored his cardboard gold in a suitcase, knowing that some day these cards would be valuable when he passed them down to his son. When his dad passed away in 2018, Matt no longer collected baseball cards. That old suitcase filled with history was rediscovered and allowed Matt to relive fond memories. Not being a collector, Matt reached out to us here at Just Collect for a and sell the cards to someone who would appreciate them.
Inside the suitcase were 1965 Topps Push-Pull cards. Each card measures 2.5" x 4-11/16" , much bigger than a standard card today of 2.5" x 3.5", but what makes the 33-card set truly stand out is their window blind resemblance! When you pulled the tab on a card, the image is revealed. Not every card is an athlete! Aside from Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth, the set includes historical figures such as President John F. Kennedy, and even Lisa del Giocondo AKA Mona Lisa as painted by Leonardo da Vinci.
In our slideshow below, you can see the 1965 Topps Push-Pull cards in the first two photos!
Another unique collectable in the suitcase can be seen in the third photo - 1964 Topps Baseball Coins! Each coin is 1.5" and the 164-coin set is filled with all-time greats. Mantle, Clemente, Willie Mays, and Sandy Koufax just to name a few of the legends.
As you slide to fourth image, you'll see Topps baseball cards from the 1960's you're more accustomed to seeing. Matt's dad also had vintage cards from the 1960's with more Mickey Mantle cards, Sandy Koufax, Willie Mays, and Pete Rose. Matt's dad sure knew which stars to collect and store!
In the last two pictures below, you can see the suitcase in which the collection was stored in. While a suitcase isn't how we recommend to safely store your collection, the story is too incredible not share and show the actual suitcase!

Matt submitted photos of his cards through our easy-to-use . At Just Collect, we have the experience and expertise to purchase vintage collections such as Matt's. The retail stores are focused on selling modern products and simply don't have the time or the knowledge to carefully evaluate vintage collections. This is where we are happy to help you! Matt opted to SHIP the collection with our two-day, fully-insured FedEx account. We made Matt a fair offer that he accepted, and we mailed him a company check. When you sell your collection to Just Collect, we pay you how you want to be paid - be it cash, check, or wire transfer. We offer many ways to evaluate your collection. You can meet us in-person at our Just Collect office in New Jersey, at a convention or card show, and we do travel for large collections much as we did for this huge vintage basketball card collection in Seattle, WA.
