A signed Babe Ruth baseball with the best form of authentication you could imagine is coming to auction. The Ruth-inked ball comes with an actual video of The Babe signing the baseball! An added bonus - the same video has Ruth knocking a home run!
In 1929 a young James Tonking went to a Yankees game with his father. Before the game, legendary baseball player, Babe Ruth, fouled a ball that ended up in James' hands. James brought the ball down closer to the field where Ruth gladly put his name on it. Imagine not just having a signed baseball from Babe Ruth, but a foul ball right off of Ruth's bat!
James Tonking's dad worked at Eastman Kodak and tested porotype cameras. One of those Kodak cameras came with the Tonkings that afternoon and James' father incredibly captured video footage of Babe Ruth singing James' foul ball! Bonus: On the video there is footage of Ruth hitting a home run!
VIDEO OF BABE RUTH SIGNING THE FOUL BALL AND HOMERING
Not only is Babe Ruth signing the foul ball for James on the this vintage Kodak video, but Ruth slugging a three-run homer is on there, too. I enjoyed seeing Ruth circle the bases during the home run and he almost passed the runner in front of him! Was the other running jogging that slowly or did Ruth have a little more speed than we all imagined...
