1951 Bowman #1

This week, we are proud to offer an extremely well centered example of Whitey Ford's rookie card from the 1951 Bowman set. This card is graded SGC 84 NM, and presents beautifully inside the black encapsulation. The card is free of any creases or staining, while still holding tremendous registration & color - pretty impressive for a card that's over 60 years old! Ford spent his entire career in pinstripes, pitching the Yankees to six World Series Championships, while also earning Cy Young honors along the way. Ford was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974, and is regarded as one of the best lefties to ever play the game.  His dominance is also present throughout the hobby, as most of his cards have not only retained their value, but in some cases, have even increased in value - which is the trend we are currently seeing with Hall of Fame rookie cards. Another reason for the steady growth in Whitey Ford's rookie card has been due to condition. Most examples are found in EX or lesser condition, which in turn creates a tremendous market for high graded examples - like the card offered here. According to SGC's population report, only about 5% of Ford's rookie cards have even reached the Near Mint threshold. This is a rare opportunity to own a valuable piece of baseball history, which would fit in nicely with any rookie or hall of fame collection! Just Collect is always looking to purchase high-quality Hall of Fame rookie cards, along with early Bowman sets and singles from the 1950s. Whitey Ford Rookie Card
