Hank Aaron's Jersey from 3,000th Hit Game at Auction

Heritage Auctions Has Game-Worn, Signed Jersey from Historic Game
  • August 15, 2021

The actual jersey that the legendary Hank Aaron wore the game he collected his 3,000th hit is now available at auction!  The jersey is signed by Aaron, too, from the fateful night in 1970.  See the incredible piece and the current price!

Hank Aaron is one of the greatest baseball players in the history of the game.  Aaron retried as the all-time leader in career home runs (755), won an MVP (1957), World Series (1957), and had over 3,000 hits on his way to being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot.  Aaron was so good, we could dedicate this entire blog to him and that still wouldn't be enough!  You, or any other lucky collector, now has an opportunity to own an absolute treasure from Aaron's illustrious career; his game-worn jersey from his 3,000th hit game is at auction!

HANK AARON'S 3,000 HIT

On May 17th, 1970, Aaron's Braves were on the road to play the Reds in Cincinnati.  In a double-header, fans turned out in record numbers to see Aaron chase history. There were  33,217 people in the crowd to watch Hank - the most fans at a Reds home game in nearly 25 years.

Aaron went 0-4 in the first game and stood at 2,999 hits. Wasting no time in game two, Aaron hit a ball up the middle that was too deep in the infield for second baseman, Woody Woodard, to make the play to first. Hank collected his 3,000th hit!

THE JERSEY

The jersey that you can see Hank Aaron wearing in the video, the very jersey he worn to collect hit number 3,000, is now at auction at Heritage Auctions.  Just look at this amazing piece of history:

You can view the auction and jersey HERE. Bidding ends on August 21st, and the current amount is $191,000!  Remember paying $2.50 for a Grand Stand ticket back in May of 1970?  You couldn't buy a hot dog today for the amount a ticket to Hank's 3,000 hit game was!  We'd love to back to when tickets were $2.50 and we were putting cards in our bike spokes without a care in the world.
