A complete set of 1951 Bowman baseball is now available for a set break! The highlight of the set is none other than a Mickey Mantle rookie card. See how you can buy into the card breaks for a shot at the Mick.
We love teaming up with our sister company, Vintage Breaks, especially when it could help you land a Mickey Mantle rookie card! Vintage Breaks is offering spots in a set break of a complete 1951 Bowman baseball set, and included is a graded Mickey Mantle rookie card!
As the set has 324 total cards, only 324 spots are available in this set break. Each spot your purchase guarantees you one card; nobody goes home emptyhanded! Once all the spots are purchased, we'll go live on our stream and randomize the list for you to see. After the random, if your name lands on spot number one, you take home card number one - the White Ford rookie card! If your name is in spot 253, card #253 is yours - the Mantle rookie!
The 1951 set is one of our favorites; the designs are just so beautiful. Looking at the two key cards above, you see a young Mickey Mantle at the age of 19. Mantle first put the New York Yankees uniform on in 1950 but did not appear in a game. During the 1951 season, Mantle earned his first playing time and won his first of seven World Series championships. The Mick had a historic career that includes 3 MPV awards and a triple crown (leading the league in batting average, home runs, and RBI) in 1956. The bright blue sky with white clouds gets you lost in that Mantle card!
Below Mantle is the Willie Mays rookie card! The Say Hey Kid was also just starting out his future Hall of Fame career. At just the age of 20 in 1951, Mays was far off from his 660 career home runs, 24 All-Star games, and hair pair of MVP awards. To this day, Mays is often regarded as the best five-tool player in MLB history.
Notice something else about this set? No batting helmets. No batting gloves. A different era! Imagine players today walking up to the box without a helmet. Times sure were different in 1951. The world hadn't watched a baseball game on TV in color yet until August 11th, 1951 when the Boston Braves (yes, Braves, not Red Sox) played the Brooklyn Dodgers (Brooklyn, not Los Angeles!).
Ready to get a spot in this set break for your chance at the Mickey Mantle rookie?
We hope YOU take home an incredible card from the set break!
