Growing up, Paul was a New York Yankees fan. Who better to idolize on the field than Mickey Mantle. Mantle played for the Yankees from 1951-1968, leading his team to seven World Series championships, winning three MVP awards, and was enshrined into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Paul collected baseball cards with his neighborhood friends, and even won a few cards in a game of flip. Like many of us, as Paul grew older, he stored his cards in a binder where they sat for many years. Recently, Paul decided it was time to sell his childhood collection, and the first thing he did was search Google for "where to sell my Mickey Mantle cards." Even Google knows: Just Collect is the top buyer of vintage cards, especially Mickey Mantle cards!

THE COLLECTION

Below are photos of Paul's childhood collection. In the first photo is a 1952 Bowman card of The Mick! While not as valuable as the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card, this second-year Bowman is an example of a truly beautiful, vintage card.

The second photo has FOUR 1966 Topps Mantle cards above that 1952 Bowman, and then you find Mantle cards from Topps releases in 1964, 1968, and even a fun 1968 Topps game where Mantle is the "single" card.

Hank Aaron cards are prominently displayed in the third photo. Paul certainly knew which players to collect as a kid! Aaron finished his illustrious career with 755 home runs, 3,711 hits, the 1957 MVP and World Series championship for his Atlanta Braves, and Aaron was elected to 25 All-Star teams! Cards from the 1956 Topps and 1957 Topps sets are in the top row, followed by Aaron cards from the 1964, 1966, and 1968 sets.

Big names keep coming! In the fourth photo are several cards of Roberto Clemente. The Clemente Rookie card was not in Paul's collection, but there are several Clemente cards from the 1957, 1963, 1964, and 1966 Topps sets. Clemente, a Hall of Famer, won two World Series with the Pittsburgh Pirates, won the 1966 MVP, and won four batting titles. Not to be overshadowed, Clemente played stellar defense, proven by his 12 Gold Glove awards!

The fifth photo below is a star-studded layout of legendary players. Pete Rose, Ted Williams, Frank Robinson, Don Drysdale, Willie Stargell, and Willie Mays jump off the page!

A unique set of cards is next - 1964 Topps Giants! A standard card today is 2.5" x 3.5". These "Giants" measure 3-1/8” by 5-1/4”. The entire set consists of just 60 cards (compared to the 587 cards in a regular 1964 Topps set), and the checklist is filled with icons. Along with Mantle, Aaron, and Clemente, you can see cards of Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax, Warren Spahn, and Frank Robinson.

The final photo below shows a range of vintage cards of star players in Paul's collection. We can't overlook that 1964 Topps Ernie Banks as the final card in the middle row!
